Marymount Day is an opportunity for us all to celebrate our wonderful and vibrant school community. It is an annual celebration of our combined primary and secondary school campuses. The day takes place close to 8 September, the feast of the nativity (birth) of Mary the mother of Jesus and our namesake.
The day always begins in prayer with Liturgy of the Word, centred around our devotion to Mary and links to our Franciscan past. Staff and students from both schools gather to remember, reflect and pray through colour, movement and song. We continue to celebrate with class activities after morning tea, participating in various rounds of games and shared time together.
A significant feature of the day is the collection of food items from school families which are donated to the Burleigh Waters Conference of St Vincent de Paul. The non-perishable items are shared by Vinnies volunteers as they visit local families and support people in need. Over 150 baskets of food are collected every year, providing a tangible link between our school and the wider community. This spirit of giving continues a tradition that began in Marymout's early years and has continued as an important outreach opportunity.
